Beacon Project Update: Monday 9th May 2011

Battle of Britain Beacon Development Team Announced.

The Royal Air Force Museum is pleased to announce that, after a very competitive tender process, the development team has been selected to take forward the Battle of Britain Beacon Project.

The Royal Air Force Museum commenced a full OJEU procurement process in December 2010 to determine the team to take forward the ambitious plans for the Battle of Britain Beacon, a landmark project at the Museum's North London site.

The Museum has appointed as Lead Consultant-Architects: Wilkinson Eyre.

Museum Director General Peter Dye commented, ' Renowned architects Wilkinson Eyre submitted an exemplary proposal and the selection panel was impressed with their thoughtful, thorough and detailed analysis of the current feasibility proposal. Their challenge will be to engage with that proposal and to move the project to a full design.'

Haley Sharpe Design have been appointed Exhibition Designers for the Beacon Project:

Museum Director General Peter Dye commented,

'Recent award-winners Haley Sharpe Design inspired the selection panel with an intimate and detailed understanding of the brief and their total engagement with the vision for the Beacon'.
