On 13th May 2010 The Royal Air Force Museum London held a Battle of Britain Gala Dinner to honour RAF Veterans of this campaign. In his speech Alan Spence, Trustee of the Museum, Chairman of the Gala Dinner's Organising Committee and Chairman of the Royal Air Force Museum's American Foundation explains the historic importance of the Battle of Britain and invites those present to salute those Veterans attending the dinner as honoured guests.
By 18th June 1940, France had fallen to Hitler. In a packed House of Commons, Winston Churchill the country's newly appointed coalition Prime Minister spoke to the Nation. The Battle of France was over; the Battle of Britain was about to commence. Here, you can listen to his words.
